Gravity Graphics and grfxgrav are Copyright (C) 2002-2004 Vincent Van Laak. They are currently being released under the GNU General Public License; however, as of the time of this writing, there may be issues with the compiling of the Linux binaries, and there is no available source for the Windows binaries. It is not the intention of the author to prevent the sources' distribution at this time, but like so much in the world, there are problems that the author must resolve.
The copyrights for the years preceeding 2004 refer to the Windows versions of this project. The author is aware that the Windows executables are not themselves tagged with copyright or license restrictions. They were developed at a time during which the author had no intention to release the executables, and no conerns about licensing the files. He was, and principally continues to be, primarily concerned with getting the program to work so he could sit and stare at the swirling colors, putting no thought at all into whether his product would be released into the web, and how to prove that it was his own. At such time as the windows sources are avaiable for release, if such a time comes, any and all available windows executables will be rereleased; for now, the files are being distributed as part of a package including a license notice, via the project page.
The author is also aware that the FISTs distributed in grfxgrav-1.1, grfxgrav-1.1.bin and grfxgrav-1.1.bin.2 do not contain license information. This is also an error, and these scripts are also meant to be freely distributed under the precepts of the GNU GPL.
Furthermore the Author understands and accepts that releasing executables without corresponding sources is against the concept of open source, and must beg forgiveness that the Windows sources are not currently available, and that the Linux sources may not compile. They (the windows sources) do exist, but they must be dredged out of backups, MSVC++ must be reinstalled to confirm that they work, and they must be edited to add license and copyright information the author did not feel was necessary at the time of their creation. That the linux sources do not compile as distributed the Author feels badly about, but would like to make the contention that it is not the fault of the sources so much as the IDE and the packages installed on his computer, and therefore he feels entirely justified in suggesting that the sources for the program as distributed, are available for download.
Reprinted from the README file:
This product is distributed freely and without warrenty of any kind under the precepts of the GNU General Public License. Any warrenty, implicit or explicit, attached to this product claiming the origional author has any responsability for any losses of capital, personal property, or anything else, or that the author is required to supply service or support, reimburse an end user, or in general supply anything not a part of this distribution, including but not limited to other source code, documentation, philosophy, porn, a shrubbery, or rasberry jam, is unlawful and void. This product may be distributed freely and/or modified, so long as the product remains licensed under, and conforms to, the GNU General Public License. It is not the purpose of this document to reiterate the terms of said license; please locate a copy of the GNU General Public License at http://gnu.org .
Legitimate feedback is welcomed by all end users of this application, or of any library or section of code taken from this distribution. However, the author reserves the right to, should it be permitted by law at the time and should he be in a position to do so, send giant, radioactive, man-eating raccoons after anyone who contacts him with negative, non-constructive feedback (FLAMES), or who sends to the author any form of unsolicited advertisement, especially under false pretenses (SPAM), anyone who attempts to relate his email address to an anime which shall remain nameless (IGNORANT FOOLS), or of anyone who offers or requests an explanation of how sheep's bladders can be used to prevent earthquales(SMARTASSES); or, should circumstances not be so providing, take whatever action he deems fit which meets such criteria as established at the beginning of this sentence.
I would also like to take the time to say that the program as compiled from the sources, and the rest of the project as I created it, really and truly is mine despite any and all lapses in notices of copyright or license, and that anyone who is reading the faux-legalese in an attempt to find any holes is a real jerk who should mind his own business and leave nice guys to finish last of their own accord, as we are wont to do. I am wholly of the opinion that people who go out of their way to make others' lives miserable really make the world a worse place, and while I am neither attempting nor expecting to change anyone's mind on the subject, it would be very nice of you to just leave me be if you have any inclination towards doing anything to annoy or harm me. Please don't make me send the racoons after you.
